Richard Harris says: „After the storms and high winds in my area earlier this year, I noticed water on my front porch which was coming from behind the siding. Assuming roof damage, I called a roofing company advertising on a local radio station in Northern Virginia. The company informed me that they worked regularly with insurance companies for storm-related roof damages. However, when I tried to schedule an appointment for them to inspect my roof prior to my contacting my insurance company they informed me that they did not do inspections prior to a claim being filed; I told them I would look elsewhere. I then called Nu Look Home Design, who agreed to send an inspector to my home the same week. The Nu Look inspector (Kevin) came to my home on time, went upon my roof, and conducted a very detailed roof inspection, complete with photographs of storm-damaged shingles on all major roof surfaces, chalk markings on all the damaged shingles (visible from the ground), and a complete written report with applicable Virginia building code references supporting the need for a completely new roof. I was very impressed with the Nu Look report and immediately filed a claim with my insurance company, submitting the report as part of my claim. When my insurance company sent out their adjuster, Kevin came to my home as well, and accompanied the adjuster throughout his inspection and discussing each portion of the report with him. My insurance company approved the installation of a completely new roof, which Nu Look installed the following week. Two days prior to the installation, the Nu Look foreman (Oscar) came to my house and explained the installation process to me. On the day of the actual installation, the Nu Look crew showed up on time and Oscar came with them to ensure the installation got started on time and that all the crew members understood their assigned tasks. The crew was very friendly, efficient, and cleaned up their work area as they went. The installation was completed in the early afternoon the same day and my family and I were totally impressed with the Nu Look work. I shared my experience with my neighbors and two of them also reached out to Nu Look and had similar results to mine. All-in-all, Nu Look did a great job and I would recommend them to anyone. Most recently we had them replace our old cedar shingle siding with new fiber cement siding. Our old painted cedar siding had always given our house a distinctive and appealing look but the wood siding has always required significant amounts of maintenance over our years of ownership including regular repainting and often the replacement of whole sections of shingles. Still, we were reluctant to replace it with traditional plank siding and lose the unique look of the house. However after meeting with Zak ,Kreisman, the owner of Alco Products and our primary contact, we were convinced that the Hardie fiber cement straight edge shingle siding product they offered would allow us to replace our cedar siding with a low maintenance, durable siding alternative that would allow our house to retain the distinct look it has always had. We were also confident, based on our prior work with Alco Products and on learning that they had much experience installing Hardie cement fiber products, that the job would be done right and to our satisfaction and we were not disappointed. While we have always been impressed by the work done for us by Alco Products and the way in which they stand behind their work, in some cases returning, even months later to address small issues we may have encountered with a product they provided, we were more than impressed with this last job they performed when they were able to take on the residing project in the middle of December and promise the work would be completed before we were to leave for a two week holiday vacation. By doing this it allowed us to take advantage of an end of years special they were offering which meant a big savings for us. They came out to start the project, immediately assessed the full scope of the work and within a day assembled the team they would need to ensure the work would be done before our departure date. The large crew there to do the work was professional and courteous, worked long days and finished the work on time as promised doing a stellar job all around leaving us to end the year and start 2024 with a house that retained its charm, now without the onerous maintenance burden it had previously required. As mentioned, we have come to Alco for a number of our home renovation projects. We’ve had them install all new windows for us, including two stunning bay windows that dramatically improved the look of our living room and kitchen. We also turned to them when we wanted to replace all of our doors and storm doors. All the rotten boards and trims as well. Not just materially good but one of the best sales professionals I've ever worked with. No pressure, honest and really knows what they are doing. Lots of options, and definitely some of the better prices and value in the area. Some places that came out or did quotes were absolute clown shows. Not Brax. As a matter of fact, Chris did a free estimate on my old roof before I even bought the house. This helped me at settlement big time and he was right on the dime about how long the roof would last. Less than 2 years later the old roof leaked and they replaced the roof with DaVinci because our HOA requires cedar. It is beautiful. Crew was fast, and very clean considering the scale of this endeavor. They had one specialist who runs the trucks and would come by just to collect the scrap and leftover new material. He name was Alexis and I enjoyed talking with he and he stayed and happily translated a lot of Spanish for me with the workers about little things. I was so impressed I had them do all of the siding. Again, more options and excellent setup. Job was even harder than the roof. This is a BIG house and the crew strained hard in the heat but they did a magnificent job and fixed a lot of issues along the way without nickeling and diming everything. Their foreman was superb even as he struggled to keep the numerous talents they needed staffed each day. They did the windows too and fixed anything that I asked for corrections to. I am very precise when I do my own fixes and they had no problem with it. All new gutters and they are flawless. It's like a whole new house and it has been rained on for a few months. I've had no problems. Neighbors comment all the time about how amazing it looks now. I would totally recommend Brax to them and I have many times. From the young man who first knocked on my door, to the salesman who came to the house, to the crew that got the project going, and the supervisor who helped with finishing up the paperwork. They all were very professional, knowledgeable, friendly, and courteous. I needed a new roof and was in the process of looking for a good contractor. That was one job I hated because of the pressure and stress I’ve experienced in the past when needing major work done around the house. But, with this company THERE WAS NO PRESSURE!!! Emmanuel was the young man who came to my door, explained who he was, and who he worked for, and was very respectful of my time. I told him I was interested to see what they had to offer. Then came Ralph. Ralph was very pleasant, easygoing, and fun. He was informative, and knowledgeable, listened, and worked with us. We felt very comfortable around him. Have you ever agreed to a contract, but after they’d leave, you would start regretting it, and wonder if you did the right thing? You’d toss and turn throughout the night debating if you should cancel or keep it? That night, I slept like a baby. We were shown what materials would be used, how they worked, and what would be good, better, and best, for my dwelling. The pricing was what I expected, and I had a range of choices to choose from. What I didn’t expect was to be able to get a better deal that was within my price range. As the hubby and I discussed the options, prices, and financial positions, not once were we pressured or interrupted to make a decision. It was my hubby who, after careful discussion, brainstorming, viewing, and reviewing, said let’s go with the best. Then came the day for installation… I had a double layer of shingles that needed to be removed. After removal, it was found, I needed some wood replaced. AJ was the supervisor, and he kept us informed throughout the process. As the project progressed, he sent us pictures so we could see it for ourselves, or the reason for replacement, whatever the situation, we were informed. Everything went smoothly. Everyone was very polite, and the crew worked efficiently, just like a team should. I have to say, that group of men worked very well together. Also, after the roof was done, the crew did their diligence to make sure everything was cleaned up. After the cleanup, AJ sat with us to close out everything and to make sure we were pleased with the job that was done. I highly recommend this company. Not once were we pressured into anything we didn’t want. We were informed throughout the project of how things were going. The whole crew was polite and respectful.
