„Richard Harris says: After the storms and high winds in my area earlier this year, I noticed water on my front porch which was coming from behind the siding. Assuming roof damage, I called a roofing company advertising on a local radio station in Northern Virginia. The company informed me that they worked regularly with insurance companies for storm-related roof damages. However, when I tried to schedule an appointment for them to inspect my roof prior to my contacting my insurance company they informed me that they did not do inspections prior to a claim being filed; I told them I would look elsewhere. I then called Nu Look Home Design, who agreed to send an inspector to my home the same week. The Nu Look inspector (Kevin) came to my home on time, went upon my roof, and conducted a very detailed roof inspection, complete with photographs of storm-damaged shingles on all major roof surfaces, chalk markings on all the damaged shingles (visible from the ground), and a complete written report with applicable Virginia building code references supporting the need for a completely new roof. I was very impressed with the Nu Look report and immediately filed a claim with my insurance company, submitting the report as part of my claim. When my insurance company sent out their adjuster, Kevin came to my home as well, and accompanied the adjuster throughout his inspection and discussing each portion of the report with him. My insurance company approved the installation of a completely new roof, which Nu Look installed the following week. Two days prior to the installation, the Nu Look foreman (Oscar) came to my house and explained the installation process to me. On the day of the actual installation, the Nu Look crew showed up on time and Oscar came with them to ensure the installation got started on time and that all the crew members understood their assigned tasks. The crew was very friendly, efficient, and cleaned up their work area as they went. The installation was completed in the early afternoon the same day and my family and I were totally impressed with the Nu Look work. Most recently we had them replace our old cedar shingle siding with new fiber cement siding. Our old painted cedar siding had always given our house a distinctive and appealing look but the wood siding has always required significant amounts of maintenance over our years of ownership including regular repainting and often the replacement of whole sections of shingles. Still, we were reluctant to replace it with traditional plank siding and lose the unique look of the house. However after meeting with Zak ,Kreisman, the owner of Alco Products and our primary contact, we were convinced that the Hardie fiber cement straight edge shingle siding product they offered would allow us to replace our cedar siding with a low maintenance, durable siding alternative that would allow our house to retain the distinct look it has always had. We were also confident, based on our prior work with Alco Products and on learning that they had much experience installing Hardie cement fiber products, that the job would be done right and to our satisfaction and we were not disappointed. While we have always been impressed by the work done for us by Alco Products and the way in which they stand behind their work, in some cases returning, even months later to address small issues we may have encountered with a product they provided, we were more than impressed with this last job they performed when they were able to take on the residing project in the middle of December and promise the work would be completed before we were to leave for a two week holiday vacation. By doing this it allowed us to take advantage of an end of years special they were offering which meant a big savings for us. They came out to start the project, immediately assessed the full scope of the work and within a day assembled the team they would need to ensure the work would be done before our departure date. The large crew there to do the work was professional and courteous, worked long days and finished the work on time as promised doing a stellar job all around leaving us to end the year and start 2024 with a house that retained its charm, now without the onerous maintenance burden it had previously required. As mentioned, we have come to Alco for a number of our home renovation projects.
