Assuming roof damage, I called a roofing company advertising on a local radio station in Northern Virginia. The company informed me that they worked regularly with insurance companies for storm-related roof damages. However, when I tried to schedule an appointment for them to inspect my roof prior to my contacting my insurance company they informed me that they did not do inspections prior to a claim being filed; I told them I would look elsewhere. I then called Nu Look Home Design, who agreed to send an inspector to my home the same week. The Nu Look inspector (Kevin) came to my home on time, went upon my roof, and conducted a very detailed roof inspection, complete with photographs of storm-damaged shingles on all major roof surfaces, chalk markings on all the damaged shingles (visible from the ground), and a complete written report with applicable Virginia building code references supporting the need for a completely new roof. I was very impressed with the Nu Look report and immediately filed a claim with my insurance company, submitting the report as part of my claim. When my insurance company sent out their adjuster, Kevin came to my home as well, and accompanied the adjuster throughout his inspection and discussing each portion of the report with him. My insurance company approved the installation of a completely new roof, which Nu Look installed the following week. Two days prior to the installation, the Nu Look foreman (Oscar) came to my house and explained the installation process to me. On the day of the actual installation, the Nu Look crew showed up on time and Oscar came with them to ensure the installation got started on time and that all the crew members understood their assigned tasks. The crew was very friendly, efficient, and cleaned up their work area as they went. The installation was completed in the early afternoon the same day and my family and I were totally impressed with the Nu Look work. Our old painted cedar siding had always given our house a distinctive and appealing look but the wood siding has always required significant amounts of maintenance over our years of ownership including regular repainting and often the replacement of whole sections of shingles. Still, we were reluctant to replace it with traditional plank siding and lose the unique look of the house. As a matter of fact, Chris did a free estimate on my old roof before I even bought the house. This helped me at settlement big time and he was right on the dime about how long the roof would last. Less than 2 years later the old roof leaked and they replaced the roof with DaVinci because our HOA requires cedar. It is beautiful. Crew was fast, and very clean considering the scale of this endeavor. They had one specialist who runs the trucks and would come by just to collect the scrap and leftover new material. He name was Alexis and I enjoyed talking with he and he stayed and happily translated a lot of Spanish for me with the workers about little things. I was so impressed I had them do all of the siding. Again, more options and excellent setup. Job was even harder than the roof. This is a BIG house and the crew strained hard in the heat but they did a magnificent job and fixed a lot of issues along the way without nickeling and diming everything. Their foreman was superb even as he struggled to keep the numerous talents they needed staffed each day. They did the windows too and fixed anything that I asked for corrections to. I am very precise when I do my own fixes and they had no problem with it. All new gutters and they are flawless. It's like a whole new house and it has been rained on for a few months.
