Work was completed in 12hrs due to a snow storm coming in. They worked 2 hrs in the dark. The next 4 days I could not view the work they did because of the amount of snow on the roof, but Erie kept insisting I sign off on the work, because “the higher ups don’t care about weather, they need paperwork signed off from the buyer.” That attitude from Erie is what took a star away. Now, Erie will not cover the roof from any damage until you sign off on paperwork. I can understand if there is no snow on it and you can visibly see the work that was completed, but they should be more forgiving and understanding if there is snow. Especially if they intentionally finished in one day because of the storm.
Upon raining for several days after the storm and 3 days of frigid temps, I was able to look onto the roof. It looked…... Again, it would be nice to be given the fair opportunity to go up and look before signing off.
My suggestion, is take many “before” pictures of your roof prior to install. They take before and after as well, but they won’t bring anything up they may have goofed, unless you do. Ask the foreman for pictures. Also, take note of the plywood and shingles needed and count them when they get delivered. Not sure what you’re getting charged for and what goes “home” with the workers. I can tell you that they loaded all of the plywood into their van which already had a ton from prior jobs, but ONLY asked if I wanted to keep the shingles. Make sure you keep what you paid for. At the end of the day, everything felt rushed. I’m sure the workers are seasoned and know what they’re doing, BUT EVERYTHING was rushed to include signing paperwork that a great job was done...
