We discovered that when our house was built, a wrap to protect wood under the siding from water was not included, and proper flashing was not installed at the deck, resulting in a lot of wood in the wall getting rotten (including the basement door frame). So we had MHX dismantle the deck...then on the 2 walls it connects to: remove the siding, replace rotten wood, install water barrier, replace the siding, install proper flashing, and replace both the basement and deck doors...then rebuild the deck in composite along with wrapping the posts. I've attached before and after pics of the exposed wall below the deck so you can see the extent of repairs they did there and the great work they did with that. Our house is a town house where the original builders simply installed siding along each wall without separating adjacent houses, so replacing the siding also involved cutting it to separate our neighbor's and installing a cap there. The guys did a beautiful job of everything. It all looks great, and we are so happy with how it all turned out....I attached pics of the new composite deck so at least you can see how nice that is.
Working with Kyu was a great experience - from beginning to end, he was so informative and willing to work with us on making sure we'd get what we're looking for and the price was good. All the workers were really nice, and Tay even bought us ice-cream bars when the ice-cream truck rolled through the neighborhood. The whole team was pretty good at keeping up on communications and making sure everyone's on the same page and answering all my questions in a timely manner. And the whole project got done in just 2 weeks (thankfully the weather was mostly cooperative).
The one thing that did not go entirely smoothly was that we had also opted to have a Trex RainEscape system installed, since the deck would be getting rebuilt. That part did not get put on the work order, though, and the deck got built without it. But to make it right, they installed a Timbertech DrySpace system instead (which does the same thing but can be retrofitted) at the same cost. So I will definitely work with MHX again, because I know I can trust them to act in our best interests, and make things right if things don't go entirely as they should, and that the project will turn out great...“ Show more
