Kawika Ah Lo says: „TLDR: We hired Soto Flooring to remodel our bathroom. They are very easy to work with, have great employees, and did an excellent job.
We bought our house 5 years ago and love it. However, our home was built in 1942 and parts of our plumbing are nearing “end of life.” This spring we reached out to Mike Soto at Soto Flooring to see about fixing some issues in our bathroom. We had a noticeable sag where our floor met the bathtub, and the floor and wall tile needed to be removed and replaced.
When we initially had Mike and Jose’ out to the house, it was to regrout and fix the corner of the tub and floor tile. We discussed what we wanted and Mike drew us up a quote. It was not the cheapest or the most expensive but it was at the top of our price range. Ultimately, we decided to use Mike because he understood the requirements of the job. That day we signed the contract and paid the deposit. After the signing, we went to treat the guys at a local wing place, but Mike surprised us and ended up paying for lunch! A few days later, Mike met us at the tile store to see what tile we picked out and gave us advice on which grout would match the best.
It took Jose’ and Jehoshaphat 6 full days of breaking up concrete and tile to complete the demo. When they removed the subfloor, additional plumbing and floor joist issues came up. This caused change orders that added to our total cost. Mike coordinated with the plumbers and hvac guy to install the vents and plumbing. After all the below floor issues were fixed, they installed the new tub, floor, and drywall. It took about 3 weeks to get to this point. Ish took over for Jose as the lead and did the tile install. They applied the Schluter products, then the tile. The longest part of the tile laying was the subway tile we chose for the shower; the larger floor and wall tile were easier and less complicated to install. It took another couple weeks to finish the tile and coordinate with the plumbers to finish the fixtures.
This whole project took 6 weeks start to finish. We were met with challenges like any other remodeling project. It cost us more money than we thought, but the job was well done and completed in a timely fashion. When you undertake a project of this scope, prepare for the unexpected, because you just don’t know what’s really going on behind your walls and under your floors until it's down to the studs. Mike’s crew is professional and nice. They cleaned up at the end of each day and even sent a cleaner in at the end of the project. I recommend if you have a floor or tile project that you use Soto Flooring.
Good luck with your project, trust the process, it will be worth it in the end...“ Show more
