I'm giving them a rating of 2 because the workers they outsourced for the roofing job did a commendable job on the roof itself, despite various issues that arose before, during, and after the job. They should have provided the workers with a
Portable Toilet as I did catch one of the worker urinating in the yard. Besides that, they were diligent workers, and I hope they are fairly compensated and not exploited due to their nationality, specifically being Mexican.
They have become unresponsive and have yet to contact me back about a refund for two skylight installations that we decided not to proceed with due to time/weather concerns and my apprehension about the job being scheduled for last year in 2023. The primary reason for canceling the skylights was my focus on completing the roof due to missing shingles and potential water damage. At that time, my roof was over 20 years old and needed immediate replacement.
The work that was supposed to be completed included:
-GAF Lifetime Roof System
-Replacement of the current skylight with a Velux Fixed Skylight
-Installation of new skylights (including drywall installation & required framing changes) for two skylights
-Complete Gutter Replacement (removing the current gutter system & installing Hidden Hangar Seamless Gutter System)
-Hardwood replacement of decking.
The work they actually completed:
-GAF Lifetime Roof System
-Replacement of the current skylight with a Velux Fixed Skylight
-Complete Gutter Replacement (removing the current gutter system & installing Hidden Hangar Seamless Gutter System).
Extras that they promised but didn't deliver on:
-Complimentary pressure wash for the house.
-Assistance in getting the roofing job covered by insurance, of which only about 15% of the cost was covered.
I have been calling and asking for a refund for the two skylights since before the job was scheduled in August 2023 but have yet to receive it. The sales manager mentioned that they may have lost my initial paperwork and that someone else was in the position before he took over.
During the roofing job, they were supposed to arrive one day prior but had transportation issues. However, they ended up arriving the next day, coinciding with rain forecasted. This delay caused damage to my ceilings, and they unprofessionally "fixed" the stains left by the water damage. I requested them to hire a professional painting company to fix the indoor ceilings, but they avoided it and instead sent one of their own workers, Thomas, to paint it. It took him multiple attempts to determine the type of paint to use, wasting valuable time that could have been saved by hiring a professional painter. Although I appreciate Thomas's efforts, I wish the company had provided more professional solutions rather than subpar ones.
During the job, they also damaged several of my plants, which they had promised to protect beforehand and take care of afterward, but they have yet to fulfill that promise as well.
Communication was difficult and virtually nonexistent once I paid them through financing, approximately six months before the job was scheduled. It was a struggle to get them to even begin the job. It's frustrating that I haven't received updates as promised. Overall, I am disappointed and wish I had chosen a more professional and established roofing company to work with...
