Back story: Our nearly 20 year old AC quit blowing cold air last weekend. Husband and I called several companies to give us an estimate on repair and/or replacement. We were prepared for the worst, but certainly not looking forward to the bill. Three of four companies we called didn't even bother looking at our unit- they instead immediately decided that the AC wasn't worth fixing due to age, and started pressuring us into purchasing a new central air system. Once they found out that our furnace was the same age, we started getting pressured into replacing both the furnace and the AC. The best quote we got any of them was around $13,000 to replace both, and we were subjected to a lot of high-pressure sales tactics that left a pretty rotten taste in our mouths. (Schedule today, we'll knock off $1500! DO IT! You won't see a better deal than this!) Thankfully, we also had B&D come out and take a look. Unlike the other companies, they didn't send a salesman- they sent an actual technician. The technician, Eli, arrived (well within the scheduled window, I might add!), prepared the quotes, but also took a look at the AC. Actually look a look at it. Friends, he fixed it. He had it blowing cold air in about 15 minutes. And he showed us how to fix the annoying rattle too. In under an hour and for less than $350, our dinosaur of an AC was back in business, at least for the rest of the summer. On top of that, B&D's quote for a new system included options that were not as fancy as the other companies but would be more than sufficient for our needs, significantly better than what we have, and several thousand dollars cheaper than the options that other companies offered. Without even a HINT of high-pressue sales. Long story short- if you run into a bind like we did, are trying to decide between replace or repair, CALL THESE GUYS. If it's fixable, they'll fix it and not argue with you, and you'll get a much better range of options if indeed you do need a replacement. Thank you!!!!...“ Show more

Do not hesitate to get a quote from them for any of your HVAC needs. Longer version: Our central AC died right at the start of a humid mid-to-high 90’s heat wave in July 2024. We were sticky, overheated, and generally miserable. Jason did everything in his power to fix that as quickly and effectively as possible, all while clearly explaining our options, providing us with documentation and environmental ratings for equipment, and generally being a trustworthy, transparent contractor putting his potential clients at ease and patiently waiting while we weighed our options on whether to just replace the central A/C unit, or go with a more efficient matched system, also replacing the aging, inefficient furnace. If you are someone who appreciates timely, accurate, informative responses to questions, either by electronic communication or telephone or in person, Jason is your guy. I always felt completely informed and at ease that, first, our questions were being answered competently and comprehensively, and second, that the work was being done in an efficient, effective, transparent manner. He was respectful of our home and items in it, and endeavored to do the work with no disruption or effect on existing architecture. Jason never pushed more expensive solutions (in fact, the AC unit we went with was smaller, cheaper, and more appropriately sized for our residence than the one I would’ve probably defaulted to on my own). After we made our decision on an efficient matched system (two days before Jason was scheduled to replace the AC unit) he showed up on time and stayed until the AC unit was running and cooling the house (a 10-hour+ day!), and then finished the less time-sensitive furnace work the following day. If you want the approach of dealing with an upselling, cookie-cutter solution-peddling, unknowledgeable salesman showing up and pitching you an overpriced system, to be installed by a new tech, who only started at the company last week, BY ALL MEANS go ahead and work with one of the big companies with massive advertising budgets.
