What Happened

Ben was sure he picked the right contractor for his roofing project, because he’d already hired them once before. He paid in full, and the project went off without a hitch. Ben was happy with his new asphalt shingle roof– until he got a lien notice from the shingle supplier. It said he owed $4,230.

When Ben called his contractor, they said the supplies had been paid for. But they hadn’t. And shortly after, the contractor shut down due to financial problems. Ben didn’t know what to do. Then, he noticed the Directorii logo on his contractor’s business card. That’s when he decided to call us.

Luckily, Ben’s contractor had registered the project on Directorii.com, meaning it was backed by our $20,000 guarantee. The Directorii team quickly got in touch with Ben’s contractor and supplier to assess the situation. Within one month, Directorii paid off the lien in full.

“We got a lien notice in the mail. I tried calling the contractor but he kept saying it had been paid for. I really didn’t know what I was going to do. I was looking at his business card and I saw he had the Better Business Bureau on there and the Directorii logo. I didn’t know who you guys were but I decided to call and see.

Michael [from Directorii] was really great. He worked fast. He called the contractor and figured out they couldn’t pay. So he talked to the lawyers and a couple weeks later he got it taken care of for us.

I would absolutely recommend using a contractor backed by Directorii. I used this contractor before so I never thought there would be a problem. It kind of shocked me when they went under. But Directorii was really a blessing for us.”
