Charles Wilson says: „Our house was built in 1992. We are the third owners and have been in the home for 23 years. Our home is brick and cedar with the brick covering the first floor of the home and cedar siding the rest of the way. The home's roof has a very steep pitch almost A-frame like but not an A-frame. On the front and rear ends of the home the roof extends about 4 feet past the exterior wall. There are five large structural beams that extend outside the home under eave. They originally had extended about 10 inches past the edge of the roof where the ends of the beams were exposed to the elements. While originally cosmetically attractive the design caused problems with wear and tear to the exposed portion of the beams. We kept them painted and even had capped the exposed top of the beams with aluminum. While that slowed down the wear, the beams were getting soft on the ends. This spring the Woodpeckers decided the beams were on the menu. They really tore up the ends of several beams. Additionally the facia where it contacted the exposed part of the beams was starting to rot. The facia needed replacement. We decide the best solution was to cut off the beams to just behind the end facia, replace the old cedar facia, and cap the ends of the beam with the new facia. To eliminate future issues we replaced the original cedar facia with PVC board. No more wood rotting. In an attempt to hire local, we found Ethical Exteriors Inc. on the WHMI radiostation website. We looked them up and they had good reviews. After getting bids from others as well, we selected Ethical Exteriors. Their pricing was competitive and they did the whole job including the painting. Other companies required we hire a painter separately. Nathan Wood, the owner, inspired confidence that they would accomplish exactly what was needed. Kim his office administrator followed up quickly with the quote, and subsequently the scheduling which was a couple of weeks out. They showed up the day they committed to. The team doing the project was Mark, his lead tradesman, and Dillion. Those guys were great. Getting way up those ladders and cutting off beams, replacing facia, replacing the drip edge under the end shingles, and painting was quite the job. They did it well. We couldn't be happier. Nathan did exactly what he committed to. I don't have before pictures of the house but am including a picture of one end of the house where the beams and facia as completed can be seen.
