Senora Leonard says: „I am torn with rating Cregger Plumbing! On 8-12-24, I had a water tank replaced. I was satisfied with the replacement of the hot water tank itself. The job was done well, they cleaned up well behind themselves. My issue is that I got beat up on the price. They quoted $1,700-$1,900 over the phone, it was suggested I could provide my own tank, I did ($525 from Home Depot). The new estimate would be $700-$900. So they would have charged me $1,000 for the tank. I'm thinking I just saved $475 and off to a good start. When they came out, it was discovered that one sheet of basement wall paneling needed to be removed because the enclosure didn't allow enough room to revome or replace a new tank. That is true! They gave me an estimate of $1,395 and said they probably had the that it down in pieces and saw it loose. Let's go back a minute, if the original work would have been $700-$900 (let's just use the $900), I would be paying $495 to remove 1 piece of wall paneling, but it had to be done. Removing the paneling ended up being them prying loose the panel and taking out the 2x4 structure behind it in one piece. It came down as easy as that, no sawing or cutting on any kind! I asked if the price of the demolition would be adjusted because the work was less than expected, they said "no". The permit cost $90, they charged $75 administrative fee to get the permit which is all done online, no trip to the city. You don't get that cost upfront with the estimate, that is added on when the work is done. Now the job has cost me $525, $1,395, $165 = $2,085. Finally I asked for a senior discount, they took off $75. My total cost was $2,010 for a 40 gallon water tank. So they are not the most cost effective. Also, the van they parked on my driveway was leaking oil. I did not call to complain about that. I had not even planned to give a review but they have sent me an email to do so three times already. I just want to move on in life and put this bad deal behind me!
Update to original post. Cregger does take their reputation seriously. I was contacted the same day after the initial review by the office manager (Kylie), she wanted to address my negative issues. She adjusted my bill $105 and sent out a service man to clean the oil spots from the driveway the same day. He did a good job, I am satisfied with the way things turned out. I plan to call them in a few months when furnace cleaning is needed...“ Show more
