Michael Harrison says: „The estimate process took a lot of time because we got three estimates and they all had a large variance. The other two companies were rushing us and I didn’t like that. After sitting down a second time with Luis from Sila, he helped us pinpoint not only the equipment that we wanted for our house for both units, but he also eased our minds about the other estimates that we had received, one of which listed an air handler that would not even fit in our space. We also called on the provider that Costco subs out to and we were expecting that pricing would be very competitive. But we were disappointed to find that the estimate from them (FH Furr) was the most expensive and also the lowest efficiency rating for both units and the two proposed had an ECM fan and not a variable speed fan (ECM is middle of the road - variable speed is the highest) The day before the install, the foreman came out and remeasured everything and confirmed all of the parts he would need to have on hand. A surprise would add to the time that our AC was off and it was a hot day that day and the day of the install. On the install day six or seven trucks showed up and at least that many workers because this was a large job and they had promised it would be done in one day. I’m happy to say that this was the case. Luis came to check on the job and the foreman was there the whole time. All of the work is beautifully done and we are very excited to have switched from electric heat to natural gas for the main unit. We had already switched to gas for our water heater and the flue for that was missing some pieces. Sila corrected that and didn’t even say anything. There was no grill on the pipe outside and it was straight. After Sila fixed it, it was 90ed up and then 90ed back with the grill on it (like an S) The pricing was the most competitive but that is not what made us choose Sila. Luis was so attentive and although our questions and needs were extensive, he was here for us the whole way through. And I don’t mean pushing a contract in our face and follow up calls and emails all over the place. There wasn’t a 2 grand off deal if you install tomorrow push with him and Sila and we appreciated that as well. Every person that was here was professional and very informative. Our old systems were both over 25 years old and our electric bills for the three summer months were $2,465! The upgraded systems will most certainly reduce that cost and we were shown why - both before we purchased and after the install. The systems are now variable speed units and that was explained which made us very happy. We just put 130k into our house in windows, doors insulation and siding (and a small bathroom) and did not experience any evidence in increased efficiency with this work that was done in the spring. We have moved into this century with failsafe flooding protection, there are 4 shutoff safeties on our 3rd floor unit. There were zero before. We’d been pushed into a bunch of upgrades with other companies with expensive UV light and polarized filters and all of that was explained by Luis. We selected the items that we wanted for our systems and we felt like we knew what we wanted. Sila vs the other companies was drastically cheaper for these items. I’m talking about 5 inch filters and the UV lights that will keep the coil areas from allowing any mold. One company said that their light (which was thousands of dollars) would cleanse all of the flowing air from germs and we had a hard time believing that fast moving air could be purified like that. Nathan Heinrich says: „Michael Bonsby HVAC was recommended to me by another contractor when I was looking to install a ductless mini-split to replace an old, loud, and inefficient PTAC unit in August 2023. There was some minor miscommunication regarding the install, namely, that there would be a giant hole in the wall that would require patching before the mini-split could be mounted. James Scafate did a very thorough job installing the mini-split and was very friendly and easy to work with through the install. He also helped re-install ductwork for two bathrooms in a very tight space using hard-pipe. Later in February 2024, my furnace started making a weird sound after longer cycles. It was about 12 years old, and not exactly top of the line. I had Yonas out to diagnose the issue, he identified the faulty part and provided repair options, but recommended replacing the furnace. I had a suspicion that the outdoor AC unit was probably close to end of life and he helped diagnose that as well to see how well it was working, and we ended up concluding that full replacement was the best option. Haddon Baile came out to measure for the new system and provided a couple options. He used to be a technician and I very quickly realized just how knowledgeable and experienced he was with HVAC systems. He recommended a newer hybrid heat pump system that has been a perfect fit for my property so far. In between receiving the quotes, my furnace entirely stopped working on a cold night, and Haddon offered to come try and fix it himself until we could move forward with the full-replacement. He explained to me how the entire furnace worked down to each component and where the system was getting bogged down, and managed to fix it. By the time it was fixed and working again, it was well after 6pm. James Scafate was once again on the install crew for the new system and they did a very satisfactory job. There have been a few issues but Bonsby technicians have been coming to service them free of charge because of the age of the system. As long as people like Haddon work for Michael Bonsby, I will remain a customer, although I think you should be elevating people like Haddon to higher positions in the company where they can impact more change. During the install, it was amusing to hear the install crew and install manager come to the same conclusions about circuits that needed to be upgraded and wiring that needed to be changed that Haddon had figured out very quickly when he was measuring the specs for a new system...“ Show more

We decided it was time to replace (obviously), so Shawn called his people and scheduled a consultant to come to our house the same day to look at our space and go over all the options. Todd arrived about an hour later and spent almost 3 hours with us, making sure we understood every option - both for systems and financing. He didn’t leave until he was sure we felt secure with this big decision, and even called me back at 8:30pm to go over one more question. He also scheduled our replacement for the very next day! The next morning our team of three arrived promptly (Adrien, Gianfranco, and I feel terrible that I can’t remember the third person’s name!!) They were traveling over two hours in rush hour traffic from a different region and were extremely apologetic for getting here just 15 minutes later than planned. They explained everything they’d be doing, placed protective carpets and drop cloths down to protect my home, and got right to work. They worked ALL DAY. At one point one necessary part or tool was missing and they were able to call in and have someone come drop it off within the hour. In the meantime they shifted to something else so they didn’t lose any time. All three techs were kind, respectful, friendly, and efficient! They explained what they were doing, gave frequent updates, and got all the work done without having to disturb any part of our home. Our consultant has suggested they may have to cut and access hole on part of our ceiling, but they were able to make it work without doing that. When they were finished, they cleaned everything up so well that you’d never know anyone had been there. The new system is a dream compared to our old one and the house immediately felt cooler and cleaner! This was the biggest purchase my husband and I have ever made and we’d been dreading it since we moved into this house with such an old system, but Horizon made the process so seamless and stress free!...“ Show more
