We spoke with a few different contractors to compare quotes. We found Ridgeline Flooring through finding flooring we wanted at Floor & Decor. We spoke with a Ridgeline Flooring team member and scheduled an appointment for someone to come to our house. We found out that Ridgeline Flooring is family owned, and three brothers work in the business together. Richard came to our house to measure the rooms and prepare the quote. He was very personable and provided sound advice as we discussed our options. He prepared a few quotes to show us the job cost if various materials were used. His brother Travis became our point person once we decided to proceed. He contacted us to schedule dates for the project and to discuss estimated timeline and payment. He made sure we were in the loop about the availability of certain materials and pricing. Our project took 2.5 days, and it was scheduled a few weeks in advance. On the first day, the third brother, Brent showed up with two team members to demo the three rooms and hallway and install the new flooring in those spaces. We previously moved out all the smaller items, broke down the beds and removed them, and took the drawers out of the heavier furniture so that very little needed to be done by the team in terms of moving our items around. All of the existing carpet and carpet pads, etc. was removed before lunch. I was able to inspect the concrete flooring on our bottom floor and the subfloor in our upstairs room over the garage. They sealed one of the larger cracks in the concrete foundation, and there were no concerns with proceeding with the installation. They installed LVP in the three rooms and hallway, and installed baseboards and quarter round in all the areas. They were done by about 4pm on the first day. There were only a few spots were additional quarter round was needed, and they would bring that the second day. Brent checked in that afternoon to make sure everything was handled properly and to make sure we were satisfied. We were able to vacuum and mop the flooring in those rooms and put all the furniture back in each of them that evening. The next morning, one gentleman arrived to begin work on the stairs. The carpet had been removed the day before, and his role was to install wooden stairs. We discussed stain colors, and he created a few stains for us to see which one we'd prefer. Once we picked our color, he set to work in our garage, and stained all of the stairs including a landing. Most of that first day was staining. That afternoon, he was able to install the majority of the stained stairs all the way up to the landing. The next morning he came out and finished installation of the remaining stairs and the stair nose to connect the top floor to the stairs. He then made sure all of the quarter round in the rest of the rooms was completed, and he left around lunch. Brent came to our home twice on the first day and once on the following two days to make sure that everything was done to our satisfaction. We were very grateful to work with all of the team members. They all respected our home and took great care to do their job well. We paid for the labor in two parts, 50% upfront and 50% upon completion. We entered into a no-interest 18 mth plan with Floor & Decor to pay for the materials and are paying towards that each month with an automatic payment. To us, this was a big undertaking, and we were concerned that that we wouldn't be able to afford to do all of these rooms at the same time. We had no idea how low the installation and materials costs would be, and we were pleasantly surprised. We plan to use Ridgeline Floors and Floor & Decor to update our pantry and guest bathroom at the end of this year.
