Siding

John Craighead says: „SUMMARY (its a long glowing review with information for home owners and shoddy construction in Columbia County GA. If you don't have time / care then just read the next paragraph).
I had a terrific experience working with the Posey Home Improvement team. They have my highest recommendation for professionalism and quality of work. I bought new vinyl windows, new vinyl siding, and coming soon I will have new gutters. From the first meeting with the sales rep to the completion of the siding installation we had nothing but a positive experience. I will go into details below.
WINDOWS
There were two windows on my house that were difficult to remove and they drywall/paint were damaged. The install crew owned up to the damage, and told me to let Mr. Posey know and it would get fixed. Not only did it get fixed, the person doing the work was a perfectionist and came back multiple days to make sure it was better than new.
UNDERSTAND THIS ABOUT REPLACEMENT WINDOWS
This is not specific to Posey Home Improvements. When you replace windows on a house, you WILL lose light as the windows are smaller than the ones you're replacing. We lost about 4" of glass space on our windows. It looked weird at first, but after a few days you don't even notice.
NEW VINYL SIDING
The siding crew and Jhersoon Zelaya showed up 10-25 minutes early every day. I expected to be avoiding nails and pieces of siding for weeks. I was presently surprised when they cleaned up the job site EVERY DAY. Not only running a magnet around the house, but using a leaf blower to get the small pieces into piles to scoop into bags.
One night it rained heavily during install and I discovered water leaking into my garage. I texted Mr. Posey over the Thanksgiving weekend, and he texted me back, "Got it." On Monday they sealed between the siding and break on my house (see pic) and pointed out it was due to the missing gutters and a crack/hole in the brick. No worries. They sealed it up.
THINGS TO DO BEFORE VINYL SIDING COMES DOWN
Take your family photos and pictures hanging on an exterior wall down off the hook. It is an obvious thing, but I didn't do it until things started to fall.
Any landscaping around the house that is not protected WILL get hit by falling vinyl from the 2nd floor. I will lose a few bushes from this installation. I should have prepped the yard. You can put stakes around bushes you want to protect, and tape them off. It tells the install crew what is important.
PLAN FOR REPLACEMENT FIXTURES IN YOUR BUDGET. Buy new lighting and flood light fixtures. The crew removed 20 year old flood lights and motion sensors and looked around for the new ones I wanted installed. I completely miscounted my external lights and had to go buy more. The crew will happily replace your outdoor lighting. Just set them up for success and have it on hand.
IF YOU LIVE IN EVANS, GEORGIA BE ADVISED
I don't know who built my home in the Hamilton Crossing / Hamilton Terrace neighborhood. I don't know who the building inspector was in 2002-2004 but they did NOT BUILD TO CODE. There was NO house wrap on my home under the vinyl, and therefore considerable water damage in areas. If you're in a home built around this time / neighborhood I would recommend you check under your vinyl to see if there is Tyvec or some equivalent product. If not, plan for wood replacement in your budget.
THE POSEY TEAM WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND
No one will love or care for your home more than you the owner. However, Jack Posey and his team are a close second. Jack showed up every day and was excited to talk about how good the house would look, what great choices we made on the colors (my wife made because I don't see how colors fit together until they are done) and he even made recommendations of other contractors to paint the brick to match the siding. He didn't try to quote me a price on something they don't do everyday. I really appreciate it when contractors do NOT try to up-sell or add expenses after a contract is made...“ Show more
