Their proposal was the only one received (of 5 other roofer's proposals) that included Certificates of Liability Insurance, County Business License and manufacturer’s certifications. William Korn, one of Retro Roofers’ owners, met with me several times to ensure the work was proceeding on-time, to standard and at cost. Mr. Korn first discussed with me the project’s requirements and to prepare the proposal, then stopped by to evaluate its progress with the on-site project manager, and followed up again on-site once the work was completed satisfactorily. Yes, I recommend these folks and would again have them perform any of my roofing needs."

"Retro Roofers replaced our roof this week 11/13. I wanted to avoid Owens Corning due to their warranty claims process. I specifically looked for a GAF contractor. Retro Roofers is a Master Elite member of the GAF loyalty program. That means they usually need to pay to enter their program and become certified in their materials installation, plus they get specialized training from the manufacturer. You don't want any general contractor installing just any material to avoid claims issues. My final installed product color is Weathered Wood. They have a lot of videos on their site of what their processes look like. Excellent service and work for several reasons and I'm sure I missing more than this: > They had a project manager on site the whole day. Most major contracting companies have a project manager at the beginning and at the end of the project to take pics and such. > They delivered materials and started on the exact date and time they said they would > They are one of the few roofing companies that install a GAF proprietary pipe boot. These boots are typically replaced by most companies, but only go around the bottom of your roof pipes. Those generic boots only last about 5-10 years and will eventually corrode. This product goes around the whole pipe. And last a lifetime. (Pic of what it looks like below). > They used an 8" starter where most companies use a 6" starter. > They installed a ridge vent and removed my old solar power fan. (This is not a "benefit" since most companies recommend ridge vents and is a requirement from GAF for claims purposes. If installed properly, there should not be an issue. > No mess left by the crew and they brought in a porta potty for them to use, which is nice so they're not rushing through a job. What I did request in the contract was to spray paint the chimney hood, which they did. I also had them add in the contract that they need to use 5 nails per shingle because I learned a lot of companies cut corners and will use 4 per shingle. What I wished I ask them to do was remove the satellite dish from the side of the house. I also should have asked them to install Christmas lights. For the record, we did not go thru insurance, but I'm certain if you asked, I'm sure they would help you fight. We will end up getting and insurance premium reduction for not filing. We did get several quotes and this company was the most competitive."
