Overall, I had a great experience with Capital City Roofing from sales to actual install to after install. I fully recommend them if you are looking for an honest contractor with integrity to do the job right. This review is for a full roof replacement at my property and unattached shed.
Capital City Roofing are licensed certified installers for Certainteed and GAF, and offer financing options - a good combination. Since they are certified installers, I get a stronger transferable warranty. I'm wary of the unknown roofing companies that show up after a storm promising a free roof replacement. I'm also very aware of insurance claim denials and what claim submissions would do to insurance policies (renewal and premiums).
Here are the different parts of the process from my experience:
SALES
I initiated the quote from their website and got a ballpark estimate by email. Their website allowed me to schedule a visit at my convenience to discuss the proposal. I was impressed with the different options, and the available financing options. Brad (an owner at the company) did not pressure me for a decision, and walked me through the pros and cons of each option. The proposal was transparent with no hidden costs. Because Capital City Roofing works with multiple shingle manufacturers, I had asked to see Certainteed and GAF. This allowed me to compare price and options so I can make an educated decision. I asked for recommendations but ultimately it was up to me to choose. Again, no pressure and the price was within my expectations. Signing off on the agreement was done online, and through it all Brad was very responsive answering questions and helping with selection.
INSTALLATION
Scheduling an install date was easy and the materials arrived in a timely manner. To be honest, it took longer to get HOA approval. The day of the install was a pleasant surprise. I had expected the project to take the entire day since I had a big roof and a shed that was damaged in a recent storm, but Brad sent 3 crews and even stopped by to inspect. The crew started at sunrise (around 7 am). Tarps were laid out to protect from damage and to collect old material for proper disposal. My old roof was quickly removed, damaged boards replaced, and the new roof installed. Through it all the crew was polite and respectful of my property. It's amazing to see how fast the old roof came down and the new put up as they were very coordinated with their work. The completed new roof for both my house and shed was done by lunch time (around 1:30 pm after all the cleaning and inspection was done). There were no additional damages found so there was no need for additional materials.
POST INSTALLATION
The crew cleaned up my property as best possible. I found some nails but it's only a handful (maybe 5-7 so far), but for a big roof that's pretty impressive. The weather forecast (no fault of roofer) was not accurate for the evening of the install. No rain was forecasted but we received a brief heavy shower, which allowed me to check for leaks (there were none but I will keep monitoring). For that I'm thankful for the early completion.
Capital City Roofing also helped with the new roof certification process (so insurance company can re-rate the home policy thereby bringing down premium).
SUMMARY
Great work from Brad, Mason and the crew. I had the opportunity to speak to both owners of Capital City Roofing. I like their honesty, integrity and how they are focused on the customer. They are not the roofing company that shows up after a storm promising a free roof. They have a good team who will take care of you. Good contractors, good people and as I've learned they have years of experience. I'm sure you will be happy with the outcome.
