Jason Crockett says: „I am coming back after 1 year to give a review on my Standing Seam metal roof that was completed by Brilliant Roofing. I originally had a shingle roof and was basically 'forced' into getting a new roof due to my property insurance rates going up and up during the past 3 years with the last year (doubling in my case) due to the 'age' of it (17yrs) even though there was no damage or known issues and it was a 25 yr shingle roof. Brilliant Roofing was recommended to me from a friend that recently had theirs replaced and were happy with the process overall with quality and fair price. I spoke with the sales (Chris) dept and he came out and was very professional and knowledgeable on the various options. We went with the Standing Seam due to the lower maintenance compared to the 5V Crimp metal style which has to have the screws replaced overtime as they are directly exposed to the elements and when they fail (rubber washers) and start to leak which could be whenever and wherever due to expansion and contraction you naturally get with metal...especially here in SE Florida and quite frankly Standing Seam looks much cleaner to the eye. This will offset the higher initial cost of the install with virtually no maintenance needs in the future compared to you trying to hunt down the source of failing/leaking 5V Crimp screws. We were very happy with the roof replacement process overall and they kept us up to date with scheduling/delays. The crew came out 1 day for tear down, replaced any existing rotted wood and installed new double under-lament. The metal was pre-cut to specs of the install and shipped directly to the house. This seemed to provide a much better quality of an install vs rolling and cutting to size onsite where you can get human error with non-square cuts/seams. The finishing crew came out about a week or so later and ended up finishing the entire process in 1 day! We have about 3,200sf hip roof...so that was impressive. We had (4) 10" goose neck vents installed for added ventilation. This was a key for me as my attic at the roof top in the summer would peg 149deg and lower trusses/ceiling 120-130deg!! This radiated down to the house interior and made our HVAC run all day long during summertime and early season heat waves. We were told by Chris that an added bonus by simply going metal vs asphalt shingle roof would decrease attic temps by 20deg. Well to our surprise the hottest days last July/August I checked the roof temp from inside the attic and the highest temp I could find was 111deg!! The bottom of trusses/ceiling were just a few degrees warmer than outside or ambient temperature. 30-40+ degree drop...Amazing!! Our electric bill has averaged $30-40 less a month during warmer months. My insurance went from $3,400 down to $1,500 (2021). This year (2022) Florida was subject to an across the board increase and ours went up tad over $300 which is not bad considering the horror stories you are hearing out there with others with 2-3-4 fold price increases! I highly recommend Brilliant Roofing and if you are on the fence about choosing metal vs shingle...to me its a no brainer to go metal...and definitely Standing Seam...“ Show more
