Ray French Air Conditioning & Heating Inc

We cannot recommend Ray French air conditioning for installation or service . Ray French Inc. installed two new, very expensive units in our home in March 2023. A few months ago, we noticed on the Alachua County property appraiser website that they were not recorded. When I called the company, they researched and explained that the employee that typically pulled the city permits failed to do so and no longer works at the company. As a result, the units then had to be inspected by the city of Gainesville, but then failed the inspection because of confusing labeling on the breaker boxes. It took us, the homeowners, along with the company employee, several hours to decipher and label the proper switches. When the city inspector returned again, the units passed inspection. However, a month later, we were left to deal with a significant gas leak because of a loose nut that almost certainly was not properly retightened by a technician at Ray French after the inspection. As we were loyal customers at the time, we called and explained we were due a complimentary service visit after all the hassle and negligence on their end. The owner of the company, Nick, never even bothered to reach out to us about this. The following day we received a phone call that they would be terminating their relationship with us because their ‘technicians did not feel comfortable maintaining our units.’ We are puzzled by this statement since we treated all of their technicians with respect, but we are now very happy to be with a different vendor...

We just moved to the area and had our air conditioning go out. We had a Ray French sticker on our unit so I gave them a call. They were very responsive and had a tech out to our house within the hour. They were able to diagnosis and provide solutions for our situation. Debin and Chris were polite and professional. They had us functional within 24 hours of the unit going out. I HIGHLY recommend this company. We will be doing all our future maintenance through Ray French...

I have used Ray French for many years, but after my most recent experience, I will no longer work with them. I have had the annual maintenance package with them for years. Most recently, when the technician came out to perform the maintenance, he informed my wife that there was a leak in the furnace coil that could not be fixed, and the coil itself was discontinued and could not be replaced, so therefore our only option was to replace our system. They sent someone over later that day to talk us through new units and pricing. I felt it was suspect that a major problem requiring replacement of the system had turned up on a routine maintenance visit, so I had another contractor come out and give me a second opinion. Contractor B were unable to find any leak in the coil and also stated that they could fix or replace the coil if there was a leak. The second contractor refilled the refrigerant in my system and it has been running well ever since (this was 3 months ago). The sales person from Ray French continued to contact us about once a week for a couple months about buying a new unit, which we did not respond to. Whenever I do eventually need a new unit, I can assure you I will not purchase it through Ray French. It would be difficult for me to trust anything they told me at this point...

Steven arrived on time and was pleasant and respectful thruout the visit. He took time to explain what he was doing as the inspection progressed which I appreciated. I had a question about the temp settings and he adjusted them as I asked, no issue. He also provided an estimate for another way to correct my concern. I had problems removing the filter so he placed tape tabs to make removal easier. He got higher readings on some of the air quality and provided an estimate for an air purification system. I feel he took his time, answered my concerns and took an interest in his purpose for being there, not just "doing a job." I was very pleased with the job he did for Ray French and I recommend him for what he did and how he interacted with me. Great job, Steven...Thanks, Jan Riple...
