I have friends that have had to launch their businesses before, so I respect how hard people have to work to earn new business. I respect the conversation that Alex had with me to ask for the job, when so many others simply leave an estimate and walk away. It showed integrity and desire. That said, we just finished having almost our whole house repainted. It wasn't something we WANTED to do, but HAD to do because of a slab leak. Due to that slab leak, we had about 40 patched up drywall holes all around the house from the whole-house repipe. I thought I might want to tackle on my own, then I realized I didn't that kind of time since we were hosting Thanksgiving for 25 people in 1.5 weeks! The Matra crew spent half a day covering up our floors and helping to move and cover heavy furniture before they could even start painting. We have a 30-foot-high vaulted ceiling, so they were going to be spraying a LOT. Not a drop of white ceiling paint was to be found where we didn't want it. The 2nd day involved painting the walls of most of the house, so we could move all of the things into the newly-painted rooms and allow the crew to start painting the other side of the house. The 3rd day was devoted to finishing up. Hard to believe this crew painted about 2000sf of house in 3 days (we had 3 bedrooms that didn't need any paint in our 3000sf home). Nobody is perfect, so after we put everything back in its rightful place, we found a few things that needed some touch up. Surprisingly, Andy was back to my house within an hour (the crazy winds had delayed a local exterior paint job, so he was able to stop by real quick), and had everything touched up in 20 minutes. On top of all that, Matra provided a very explicit and professional contract. It came to my surprise that they went above and beyond what was stated in their contract! They showed some real pride in their work to fix some drywall damage (from an old roof leak) and also painted my baseboards to really make the newly-painted walls pop. Wow. At the end of the day, my decision to choose Matra proved to be a great one. Their pricing was more than competitive with the 5 other companies that quoted. They were able to start (and finish!) before anyone else could commit, and most importantly, my wife and I were so happy with how everything turned out.
