My family recently moved into a new home and we have had a number of random jobs going on at the house. Every time someone went up in our attic space they came down with the same message - evidence of rodents, and minimal insulation. One contractor even removed a recently deceased rat from the attic. I knew it must be disgusting up there. With the summer heat we quickly realized how inefficient our home was. I dreaded the hot days because I knew our AC would barely keep our home comfortable. I wanted to do something about the attic because I knew this was an issue that was just going to get worse and I felt so gross having all that above our heads. I first received a quote from another company to remove the existing insulation, sanitize, seal possible entry points, lay new insulation and install a whole house fan and when they told me the price I knew it was not doable (over $20k). I sadly put that house project on the back burner for a bit. One day I was going through the Valpack coupons and I saw an ad for Atticare. They offered the same services as the first company I had contacted and a discount with the coupon. I figured I would give them a call to see if their prices would be any better. I was able to schedule Leo to come out and give an estimate within a few days. He came out and said the same thing that everyone else has said - that our attic needed a lot of help. He was able to break down the cost of everything per sqft (something the first company couldn’t do). And they were able to schedule the work to be done the following week. At first I told him I wanted to replace our existing attic fan with a new one, but later I changed our order to installing a whole house fan instead (I highly recommend this), and Leo was able to update our estimate without any issue. We needed an electrician to come out and wire for the house fan and they scheduled that for a few days before the attic work was to be done. Super easy. The day came for the attic work and three professional, pleasant, hard working men came out, prepped the entry/hallway spaces with plastic and got to work. They did everything within a few hours, and thoroughly cleaned the spaces when they were finished. We now have a clean, rodent free, appropriately insulated attic with a house fan. All for significantly cheaper than the first quote I received. Our house is so much more comfortable on hot days and our AC finally works well to cool our home. We noticed a difference right away. Oh, and when I told Leo what the first company had quoted me he laughed and said, “someone’s trying to go to the Bahamas!” If you’re thinking about having your attic redone, I highly recommend this company. „T G says: Let me open this up by saying we wish we had completed this job 8 years ago, right when we bought the house, a 1955 quasi Eichler with a low slope, uninsulated tar and gravel roof and no AC. We’re located in a sunny and very warm North Bay valley where 90F+ summer days would result in unbearable roof heat built up and transfer while on chilly winter days we couldn’t keep the house warm enough. Having obtained several quotes and consulted with Gus, we chose Alex and his team and the result turned out to the best investment and upgrade we have made to the house so far. The install took 5 days and the attention to detail was evident. Alex has decades worth of SPF spray on experience, is a consummate craftsman and walked us through the process, explaining every step in detail, and his entire team were punctual and professional. Having now lived under this new roof for the last 12 months, here are the findings: besides serving as a very sturdy brace for the entire structure, it has proven to have the insulating properties as advertised. The house no longer creaks loudly as it did when it heated up or when buffeted by wind gust, and the morning following the roof completion – early February with temps in the 30s - the interior no longer had the typical cold spots where we experienced them before. We supplement central heat with a high efficiency EPA rated Danish wood stove and it now only takes a load or two of wood for the heat to spread and remain within our 1500sq feet structure whereas multiple continuous burns were required before. Summer performance is equally impressive. Our interior stays about 10-15 degrees cooler than it did with the tar and gravel as all the heat is reflected and not transferred in. Here are the numbers: on a 105F day it was 89F inside pre foam, and a mid 90s day out would result in mid 80s inside by late afternoon. With the foam on, it was 78 inside by the end of a 102F day and it stays in mid 70s with 90F heat out. I imagine that the numbers would likely be better if we did not have 11 skylights perforating the roof and allowing for passive heating. Attached are pics showing temp. readings at the ceiling in our living room and in our unfinished garage in summer ’22 and with the foam on in ‘23. Josh Lucero from Quality First's Concord office came out again inquiring if we wanted to replace more windows - a job they'd done previously for us and did a spectacular job doing so. Because of covid-19 we weren't allowing anyone access to the house and that pretty much prevented any windows replacement. Painting the house was in our plan and we took that route instead for this improvement. We took the tex-cote option for the lifetime guarantee, fire resistance, and easy cleaning. It was about twice the cost of a normal paint job but as we'd never have to paint again and we live in an area prone to summer ground fires we decided it was a good investment. We had to get financing and the company was very patient with us as we juggled between them and our bank for the best financing deal. It took a while for our project to begin because we had to wait for warmer, clear weather. Once it did, it took about a week to complete. Rene and his painting crew were extremely nice and respectful of our property and needs. They had to replace a lot of wood that had rotted around the panes but organized the waste well. I have only found three nails that they missed, two on the front driveway and one in the back. I think that's a great example of how careful they were, when compared to the 100+ I found after having our roof replaced. There were two moldings under two separate sliding doors that they missed but Rene returned promptly to replace them and paint them. We are very pleased with the project. I would say we'd use their service again to paint the outside but as we got that lifetime tex cote, maybe cleaning and an occasional patch is all we will need. For Josh himself, he is an excellent listener and goes out of his way to meet your needs and give you the best product he can. He truly is excited about the products he offers. He is patient, works to meet compromise between what they offer and what you can afford and never pressures you beyond your means. He makes himself readily accessible if you have any questions or need any updates and makes an effort to follow up on the project during and after in order to guarantee your satisfaction. „Alex Chow says: I was a bit apprehensive during my initial search for a roofing contractor to replace my 33-year-old tile roof and gutters since it is one of the more expensive home improvement projects. I went through the usual route of internet review search, Diamond Certified directory, BBB ratings and CertainTeed certified installer list to select 6 companies for a price quote. 2 of them I got absolutely no reply, 1 was 6 to 8 weeks to come out for a quote and the other 3 provided quotes within 2 weeks. Aggy, the owner of PRI Premiere, provided a very detailed roofing report and pricing estimate to me in 3 days. When comparing all the quotes, they all came within 5% of each other. However, PRI’s quote stood out as the most comprehensive which listed out all the material, scope of the job, possible dry rot repair cost, liability & worker’s comp insurance information, etc. At my final selection process, Aggy came to my house for a site inspection, we discussed some of the additional work I wanted to do including roofing over an open rafter entrance area and adding a huge 4’ x 6’ sky light for illumination. When compared to the other companies, this is when Aggy won me over for the job. With his pleasant demeanor, Aggy patiently listened to all my needs and concerns, gave me professional and honest answers without any hard sell. As a matter of fact, I was so impressed with Aggy, I contracted him to also paint my house after the roofing is completed. As we negotiated on the final cost, he was able help me keep the project within budget and made recommendations that helped beautify my home and gave me the most value. After I signed the contract, PRI got the permit from the city and started the job in 4 weeks. The PRI roofing crew and the foreman, Jairo, were fantastic. Every day they started the work on time, worked efficiently, kept the noise to a minimum, and cleaned up around the house at the end of the day. Throughout the whole project, we had excellent communication and they kept me informed of the project status. Periodically, I would go up on the roof to check on the progress and I can tell they did a very high-quality job without any short cuts. The thing that impressed me the most is that the roofing crew called a stop to the project after the supplier delivered the roofing shingle material. They were able to tell by the packaging that the shingle delivered were old stock even though they were the correct Certain Teed Presidential TL Solaris. Jairo explained and apologized for the delay as they insisted the supplier to take back the old and re-deliver the new stock. As a homeowner, I would never be able to tell the difference between the two, but PRI acted in my best interest and got me the best material possible. To me that is a testament to the integrity and quality of the company. After the roofing was completed, PRI painting crew came in to do part 2 of the project. Once again the crew led by Ceasar continued the same timely, efficient, and professional job. From pressure washing the house, surface repair, priming, windows covering to painting and clean up, everything was top notch. A lot of people from my neighborhood, including my contractor neighbors, complemented what a good job PRI have done and the prep that went into the job is the best they have seen. The final step of gutter and gutter guard installation also went very smoothly and added the final touch to the whole project. After the job completion, the city came back for a final inspection and signed off on the project without any issues. Shortly after, Aggy came back and did a walk through with me to confirm everything was completed to my expectation.
