Amy Price says: „This was my first time to use Mr. Rooter. The toilets in a house I own - built around 1960 - started the 'blop blop' sound and action that indicates a clogged drain/sewer line. The house is on a large hill with a long sewer run to the street. I'd recently had two very large tree (>120') removals and was dreading potentially having a crushed sewer pipe because of the weight of the trucks on the driveway.
My crawl space is encapsulated and (fortunately) the original cast iron drain lines had been replaced by PVC - at least within the house. But I didn't know where the outside lines ran, or their condition.
I called Mr. Rooter based upon its great Google reviews. Mark Foley came to the house within a day to troubleshoot it. The first 'feel good' thing is that he brought the right equipment - he was able to inspect the line via video camera from the clean out (about 20 feet from the house) to the house, and then from the cleanout to the street. First thing he noted: he heard road noises, which indicated that the line to the street was good. And, he confirmed that it was PVC. My sewer drain actually ran down the property line, and NOT under the driveway. Hooray!
Looking towards the house, he found and removed a rather large clump of 'flushable' wipes (remember - those wipes are NOT flushable!) and the drains all ran free again. Mark noted that this section of drain was still cast iron, and pretty rough/worn (the inner diameter was reduced due to 60+ years of use), and gave me a proposal to a) replace it or b) clean and then line it with a UV-cured plastic. I chose the re-lining since it would not require them to touch the crawl space encapsulation.
The team returned a day later to do the relining. After Mark dug up the pipe, he called me out to take a look. Turns out some ancient tree root had fractured the pipe. He ended up replacing 2/3 of the existing cast iron pipe with PVC and lining the rest with plastic. He also repaired the cleanout (it stuck up about a foot) and lowered it to be close to the ground so that the mowers would hopefully miss it.
Net is - I feel like I avoided a major failure while also discovering a solid and reliable company to look after my plumbing. The people in this company are well-experienced and their customer service is great! I like to make long term relationships with my service providers, and I've added Mr. Rooter to that list. Thank you...“ Show more
