Had 3 roofing contractors at my home for estimates.
1. Big River from Sharon
2. Liberty Roofing from Fredonia
3. Shell Restoration from Grove City
I went with Liberty Roofing because of the Atlas shingle that they install and the warranty against wear and mold.
The Liberty Roofing ESTIMATE:
I saw $400.00 on the estimate should I want a new chimney cap installed (which I did).
When I text messaged Abner Miller ( owner of Liberty Roofing) and questioned the the price of a simple chimney cap, he told me that chimney caps are 'special order'.
Not true as I came to find out when I bought a stainless steel chimney cap from Home Depot for $156.00.
Keep that 'Special order' thing in mind if you unfortunately decide to go with Liberty Roofing. That's called and 'up-charge' and they seem to attempt that quite often.
The Liberty Roofing INSTALL of my new roof:
The crew arrived on time and as expected. The crew itself was mostly non-English speaking, but the crew boss Jordan, was actually from the area.
They nailed heavy duty tarps from the roof to the ground to protect the house and shrubs etc from the debris.
The ISSUES:
A few issues that could have been resolved and still kept them at a 5 STAR rating but unfortunately, that was not the case.
ISSUE One:
Shingles around the chimney were not flat and sealed when they were done. Jordan said he would come back and silicone them if they did not seal in the next month or so.
ISSUE Two:
They charged me $100.00 for a sheet of plywood to repair the hole in the roof where they removed a chimney.
That chimney removal was included in the estimated shortly after the crew left.
I had to drive to Liberty Roofing to get my check and write them a new check.
ISSUE THREE:
They did NOT pull the drip edge tight against the roof on one side of the house and that caused it to be buckled. I was looking up at the roofer when he and I noticed it at the same time.
He fixed it by cutting the drip edge to make it lay flat.
From the the ground? and since these are the called 'Pros'?
THE RESULT:
By them cutting that drip edge, it allowed air to catch the fascia metal and pull it away from the house.
The roof was installed in June of 2024 and when I contacted them in late October of 2024 and told them that the shingles had not sealed by the chimney and the the fascia metal was loose and coming off, I was told that they would come out and fix it.
2 Days later, when I came home from work, I thought it was some kind of joke.
The did seal the shingles!!!!
But the metal that they replaced on the fascia was, and is, not even CLOSE to any of colors on the house.
No response from Abner Miller via texts.
No response from emails send to the office.
Once they get your money......
Called Dan Longo that did the repair and he told me that since they didn't install the fascia metal, that it really wasn't his problem. I should be happy that they even put the metal back up.
If I wanted the correct color of metal??
Well geez whiz, said Dan Longo, that would have been 'Special Order'.
Which is bullshit.
Its the same color that they used on the chimney flashing as you can see in the pictures.
That color is readily available at Home Depot as also from the pictures.
TAKEAWAY:
A few minor issues turned a 5 Star review into a 1 Star review.
They didn't call and say hey, we didn't install this fascia metal (even though they were at fault for it blowing off by cutting the drip edge to make it lay flat) but we can fix it WITH THE RIGHT COLOR FASCIA METAL for a small fee.
Nope
Dan put up what he had in the truck.
Tough shit if I didn't like it.

Home Depot standard color
Dan said my color was 'special order' but you can see how it matches exactly the drip edge and the flashing on the chimney that they installed.
Unbelievable slap in the face to the customer...
