Elyse Boyle says: „It's not every day I write a review where I get to say that someone literally saved us $10,000, but today appears to be that day.
Back story: Our nearly 20 year old AC quit blowing cold air last weekend. Husband and I called several companies to give us an estimate on repair and/or replacement. We were prepared for the worst, but certainly not looking forward to the bill.
Three of four companies we called didn't even bother looking at our unit- they instead immediately decided that the AC wasn't worth fixing due to age, and started pressuring us into purchasing a new central air system. Once they found out that our furnace was the same age, we started getting pressured into replacing both the furnace and the AC. The best quote we got any of them was around $13,000 to replace both, and we were subjected to a lot of high-pressure sales tactics that left a pretty rotten taste in our mouths. (Schedule today, we'll knock off $1500! DO IT! You won't see a better deal than this!)
Thankfully, we also had B&D come out and take a look. Unlike the other companies, they didn't send a salesman- they sent an actual technician. The technician, Eli, arrived (well within the scheduled window, I might add!), prepared the quotes, but also took a look at the AC. Actually look a look at it. Friends, he fixed it. He had it blowing cold air in about 15 minutes. And he showed us how to fix the annoying rattle too. In under an hour and for less than $350, our dinosaur of an AC was back in business, at least for the rest of the summer.
On top of that, B&D's quote for a new system included options that were not as fancy as the other companies but would be more than sufficient for our needs, significantly better than what we have, and several thousand dollars cheaper than the options that other companies offered. Without even a HINT of high-pressue sales.
Long story short- if you run into a bind like we did, are trying to decide between replace or repair, CALL THESE GUYS. If it's fixable, they'll fix it and not argue with you, and you'll get a much better range of options if indeed you do need a replacement.
