**Scam Alert**
Call Roto Rooter if you want to make a $3500  job into an over $14k job. Heavy lifting, frustration, and risk of a lein against your house is required. Oh, and they won't complete the job.

I don't know how this company is rated high on here. They must pay for reviews because they are bad. This will be a long review which needs no embellishments.

About three months ago, I had my sewer clog. There was about a gallon or two of backup sewage in my unfinished basement.  I contacted them to have the sewer unclogged. Their response time was great, and it was very easy to contact them. I will give them that kudos. They came out about two hours later and scoped the pipe. They said one of my pipes was "missing or broke." They couldn't tell from the pictures but it needed fixed asap.

The backup happened in my basement.  My basement is an unfinished  slab of concrete that is used for storage. There was a small area to clean up, about 4ft x 3ft. I was at work when they came. My wife called me, and I told the person in charge that I did not want them cleaning. That it was a small area and I would do it. A clean-up crew showed up anyway. They pressured my wife  and she allowed them to clean. They moved everything within 20ft of the drain to the other side of the basement.  I don't know what they cleaned as there were still about a hundred little bits of toilet paper ALL over the area (see pictures) . They didn't move my stuff back, and now I find out they are charging thousands of dollars for the cleaning.

We called a local plumber to fix the broke pipe in the drain. Roto rooter wanted $7k to fix. the plumber did it for $3500. Roto refused to provide us with the pictures they took of the drain so our plumber didn't see before digging up the pipe.

When a different crew came back the next day to retrieve the 8 air movers and fans, I showed him the toilet paper all over and asked him why they cleared such a large area of they didn't clean the area directly under where the backup occurred.  I got a shrug, and he alluded to this being common for them and "hear that a lot."  Unfortunately,I just wanted them out of my house and signed that the work had been completed.

I wish that had been the end of my troubles.

I called/ emailed /texted and spoke to six different employees requesting to speak to a manager or supervisor.  They wouldn't tell me the manager's name, but said he would "call me back" or "was aware I needed to speak to him." Yada, yada, yada. No call back to this day.

The cleanup was almost $10k, so we used our insurance. Two weeks later, we got a notice of their intent to put a LEIN against my house! I contacted their office and told them  we hadn't received the insurance check but intended to pay. The employee  was able to verify our check had been mailed but was never cashed. She apologized up and down and said this should have been checked before they threatened to put a lein against my house, and my file should not have been "on her desk." She asked me to send the pictures I had of the unfinished job so she could inform the "general manager." Turns out it's the same manager who won't talk to me.

So I just finally paid the bill and afterward was finally able to talk to the manager (Charles).  He didnt seem to care, but he did at least offer to come finish the job finally.  But at this point, I just want to be done with them.

Pictures are of the completed job, directly under where the backup occurred.

Do not use these scammers!
